Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Tips, Odds, Free Bets, Betting Offers & Preview
Run over three miles, the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase is a gruelling test for a novice chaser. With 20 fences, jumping accuracy is a must, and those involved at the finish are likely to have a say in major chase races moving forward.
Previously known as the RSA Chase and now called the Brown Advisory Chase, the Festival Novices is essentially the Gold Cup for novice chasers. Several horses, including Denman and Lord Windermere, have won this race and the Cheltenham Gold Cup the following season.

Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Tips
Attracting the best young staying chasers in the sport, the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase is a demanding test of stamina and jumping ability and is a popular race with punters.
And Alan Kelly has his Next Best selection for Wednesday running in the race!
Alan Kelly - Stay Away Fay
After his victory over stablemate Gaelic Warrior at the Dublin Racing Festival the Willie Mullins-trained Fact Or File is going to be a warm order to take this extended three-mile ‘Novices Gold Cup’ for leading owner JP McManus.
While visually impressive at Leopardstown, I thought the seven-year-old was flattered somewhat, with his only rival clearly nowhere near the horse we saw demolish his rivals on his first two starts over fences. In a race where stamina is the overriding factor, I prefer to side with STAY AWAY FAY, last season’s Albert Bartlett winner.
After winning novice chases at Exeter and Sandown, outstaying his rivals on both occasions, Harry Cobden’s mount was far from disgraced in finishing third behind more experienced campaigners in Cheltenham’s Grade 2 Cotswold Chase. This race has been the long-range target for the Shantou gelding, who is fancied to outstay the opposition up the famous Cheltenham hill.
Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Betting Odds
Once again we have an Irish-trained favourite - Fact To File a short-price for the Brown for trainer Willie Mullins.
But the Paul Nicholls-trained Stay Away Fay is bound to have plenty of support as he switches back into novice company having run a big race last time against more experienced rivals.
What Happened Last Year?
The 2023 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase saw the Patrick Neville-trained The Real Whacker put in a stunning front-running display to land victory.
Two lengths clear over the final fence, The Real Whacker and jockey Sam Twiston-Davies dug deep to hold on from the fast-finishing favourite, Gerri Colombe.
