Grade 2 Liberthine Mares’ Chase (Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase) is the newest race at the Festival and was launched in 2021. The race has been added to the Gold Cup Day card and replaces the Novices’ Champion Chase.

The Mare’s Chase is run over the same distance as the race it replaces, i.e 2 miles and 4 furlongs on the new course. The race was created to increase the number of elite races for female horses and to help encourage the breeding industry as a whole. The Mares’ Chase has been placed on the final day of the festival, and will need a few years to find its feet, as the race needs time to encourage mares to stay in training.

Mares’ Chase Betting Odds (March Update)

At this early stage, two horses are standing clear of the rest in the betting market, and assuming both head to the race, should provide us with a strong duel, both in the market and on the track.

Allegorie De Vassy and Impervious head the market, with the first named 13/8 & second named 2/1 to win this race, they look set for a big clash. The only other runner in single figure odds is Jeremys Flame, a general 5/1 shot.
