Triumph Hurdle Tips
The Triumph Hurdle kicks off day four of the Cheltenham Festival - the only race specifically for four-year-old horses.
These youngsters won’t have had much racing and will likely still be improving, though we often see strong favourites emerge as they look to grow into Champion Hurdle contenders of the future.

Charlie McCann - Storm Heart
Willie Mullins saddles seven in the Triumph Hurdle and it is interesting that the Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle winner from the Dublin Racing Festival the mare Kargese is a bigger price than the placed horses in the race Majborough and STORM HEART and I think the latter will win what looks another benefit for the yard who have carried all before them save the poor show of El Fabiolo in the first two days.
Storm Heart came from further back than his stablemates at Leopardstown, missed out the second last and I would imagine Paul Townend will ride him more prominently than was the case last time. Majborough jumped best at Leopardstown and he, too, looks sure to improve for the experience but I just favour Storm Heart.
Mullins also saddles Salvator Mundi, who has not had a run for the yard but finished second to Sir Gino – a late defection on Thursday morning - in France at Auteuil back in April beaten less than two lengths. Jockey bookings would suggest he is a fourth choice from the yard, and his lack of experience will likely be a vital factor.
Triumph Hurdle Betting Odds
The Nicky Henderson-trained Sir Gino had been a strong favourite for the Triumph Hurdle, but with concerns over the health of Henderson’s horses, he was sadly withdrawn on Thursday morning.
Punters must now look elsewhere for their selections, with a strong Irish contingent, including Majborough and Nurburgring, sure to be popular.
What Happened Last Year?
Trainer Willie Mullins had saddled the winner of the Triumph Hurdle in 2020 and 2022, and Lossiemouth gave him another success last year in the famous silks of owner Rich Ricci.
Sent off the 11/8 favourite, Lossiemouth put in a scintillating performance under jockey Paul Townend, leading home a 1-2-3-4 for Willie Mullins, showcasing the abundance of hurdling talent the Closutton trainer has at his disposal.
