Belgium will be aiming to silence some of their detractors when they begin their Euro 2024 campaign in earnest with a Group E clash against Slovakia on Sunday afternoon in the Waldstadion, Frankfurt.

A cataclysmic World Cup 2022 campaign where the Belgians departed in the group stages spelled the end for Roberto Martinez, and now Domenico Tedesco will want to finally deliver on years of unfulfilled promise, starting against Slovakia.

We’ve looked at some of the best football betting offers, odds and markets from our range of football betting sites to provide you with Belgium vs Slovakia betting tips.

Belgium vs Slovakia Match Preview

In the past two editions of the tournament, the Red Devils have failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals, and while the supposed “Golden Generation” tag has sailed, the fans won’t want to see success elude them for too much longer.

Slovakia, in the meantime, will be taking their place at the Euros for the third time in a row, and they will harbour ambitions of reaching the Round of 16.

Moreover, they come into the tournament on the back of some decent form, losing just two of their past 11 competitive matches (W7, D2), and the likes of Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka and Paris Saint-Germain veteran Milan Skriniar will add some experience to the spine of the team.

But how will things pan out? To drum up some excitement for this game, I have whisked my way over to the betting markets and plucked out a couple of tips for your consideration.

Belgium to start with a bang

Throughout their history, Belgium have had some lean spells. You have to go back to 1980 for when they last reached the final of the Euros.

Though Belgium are carrying some favour in the outrights, they aren’t necessarily talked about in the same manner as bookmakers are about France, hosts Germany, Spain, and England.

While they have been able to retain key stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, integrating the next wave of talent has been the most pressing concern for Tedesco.

Perhaps given the embarrassment of riches at his disposal, Tedesco will have to be canny to fit in all the attacking talent.

That aside, Belgium haven’t been slow starters, and they have won their opening match in three of their past four trips to the Euro finals.

It is also worth noting that Belgium are usually rock solid early on in the tournament, having kept a clean sheet in four of their past five group matches.

For my opening gambit, I’m swayed by Belgium to win to nil, and a short 7/5 price has been stumped up by Paddy Power for that outcome.

Jeremy Doku to finish off Slovaks

Although Romelu Lukaku will head into Euro 2024 as Belgium’s all-time top scorer (six goals and counting) and joint top appearance-maker, the supporting cast will have to step up.

Jeremy Doku, for example, has been breathtaking to watch. Aside from his array of tricks, he has bags of pace, and he can flash past defenders effortlessly.

He’s never afraid to have a pop at goal, and he contributed seven goals in all competitions for Manchester City last term.

Doku will ask serious questions of the Slovak backline, and his tireless energy means he is always a slippery customer.

To round off my Belgium v Slovakia Euro 2024 betting tips, I’m backing Doku to get in on the act and net the final goal of the game, and I have located a 15/2 price at BetVictor.
