A 4-2 success over Finland on Tuesday evening saw Portugal get their Euro 2024 preparations off to a really good start, and they’ll look to continue adding to that in the coming days, when they have two more friendlies before travelling to Germany for the tournament.
Croatia on Saturday and Ireland next Tuesday are still to come, and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see Portugal win all three, it would certainly boost momentum at just the right time.
On the back of their win over Finland on Tuesday, football betting sites have priced Portugal up at 8/1 to win Euro 2024.

Portugal Have Squad Strength to Go Close at Euro 2024
While Cristiano Ronaldo will no doubt grab the headlines on this Portugal team, it’s wrong to say they are a one man team, in fact, I expect many players will shine around Ronaldo this summer.
Going forward, Portugal have great depth, and many players who can impact a game, either with their ability to score goals, or with their ability to create chances.
Bruno Fernandes in particular, who scored a wonderful goal in the victory over Finland, is a player who I think will really shine on the big stage.
Throw in the likes of Bernado Silva, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix, Rafael Leao and many more, and Portugal have to be considered contenders.
Drawn in Euro 2024 Group F alongside Turkey, Czech Republic and Georgia, the draw has been kind to Portugal, and that’s seen them installed as heavy odds on favourites to win the group.
Attacking Quality on Display as Portugal Win 4-2 Over Finland
The attacking names above give you an idea of what Portugal can do with the ball, and in scoring four against Finland, they showed us on the field, minus Cristiano Ronaldo who didn’t play.
They dominated possession in the game, with 74% of the ball, and totalled 18 shots throughout the game, with eight of those being on target.
Ruben Dias opened the scoring before Diogo Jota scored a penalty just before half time, to make it 2-0.
Two goals from Bruno Fernandes in the second half sealed the deal, and gave Portugal a 4-2 success.
Finland haven’t qualified for Euro 2024, so of course, the opposition on offer here wasn’t the toughest. But Portugal did what they needed to, and reminded us all of what a good attacking team they are.
