Championship Football Accumulator Predictions
Championship Accumulator of the Week
After just the one selection right out of four in last week's acca, I'm licking my wounds and going for a much more respectable 12/1 this time round.
Leeds v Watford - Leeds to win to nil
Leeds got another comfortable win on Friday night, their 2-0 win over Sheffield United already their fifth win to nil of the season.
Three of these have come at home and I think we'll see a similar performance - full of control but also with plenty of threat from the hosts.
Watford have been very inconsistent all season and I don't think will trouble a Leeds side who I expect will go on in the coming weeks to establish themselves as the best side in the league.
Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea - Under 2.5 goals
I touched on Swansea's dreadful attacking record in Saturday's predictions, and so it proved as they went down 1-0 on the road in Blackburn, meaning they have just eight goals all season.
They were perhaps unlucky having recorded 14 shots (only two on target) and an xG of 1.14 but they are just unable to make those chances and their possession tell.
Wednesday were a similar story with an xG of 1.50 against Burnley but were also nilled (they lost 2-0) so I think it will be an edgy affair between these two, either ending all square or with one team winning by a single goal but it won't be a high-scorer.
Preston v Norwich - BTTS
Norwich had been building up a slight head of steam before the international break so probably will be disappointed by a draw away at Stoke in a game the stats say they had a slight edge in.
They will fancy themselves to have a really good crack at the play-offs again this year and would fancy getting a result at Preston on Tuesday night, but they themselves have had a decent couple of games.
Granted, eight goals in 10 matches is another disappointing attacking return but with two wins and a draw in their last three games they go into the game full of confidence. It might not be a classic this one, but BTTS is usually a good addition to an acca and I'm hoping this is a banker.
Cardiff v Portsmouth - Cardiff to win
I think I expected Portsmouth to do better this season, having stormed League One last season and then claimed an entertaining point at Leeds on the opening day of this campaign.
They have picked up just one win so far though, and that came on Saturday against fellow strugglers QPR and they face another huge game against Cardiff on Tuesday - the three of them making up the bottom three.
Cardiff had been woeful up until a couple of weeks ago but since Omer Riza took charge - even if on an interim basis - they have picked up two wins and a draw, including a 5-0 hammering of Plymouth to kick the weekend off.
I expect Riza to keep his job now and Cardiff to continue climbing the table.
