Slovan Bratislava v Manchester City Match Preview

The news of Rodri's season-ending knee injury has the potential to be a real disruption to Manchester City's campaign, but it shouldn't distract them in this one.

There will be a lot of focus on how they cope without the midfield lynchpin over the rest of the season, and the immediate signs suggest that they have drifted a little closer to the pack in the Premier League.

They still have the likes of Rico Lewis, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Matheus Nunes to call upon, but Rodri has been one of the best and most consistent players in Europe for some time, for a reason.

Thankfully for Pep Guardiola, a trip to Bratislava should be one of the more comfortable European fixtures this season so after a draw against Inter Milan first up, they should get three this time out.

It wouldn't be a huge shock to see some fringe players rotated into the side, with players such as Phil Foden, John Stones and Nunes on the bench at the weekend.

However with three draws in the last four matches, the three points are most important to Guardiola and he will want a clean sheet having conceded four goals in their last three.

And that's along the lines of what I'm expecting, with an easy win for Manchester City - to nil - on the cards for Tuesday night, which you can find at 11/20, but to lengthen those odds a little bit I'm going to back a Manchester City -3 handicap win at 5/4 with betfair.

Erling Haaland has had an astounding start to the season, and it is amazing that he is only 5/1 for another hat-trick with Betfred, but that's what I'm backing in this comfortable win for the visitors.
