Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle 2023 Betting Odds, Runners & Preview

Better known as the Fred Winter Hurdle, the race is for four-year-old novice hurdlers only.

This race was made for those who couldn’t get into the Triumph Hurdle, the Grade One event for four-year-olds, but over the years, we’ve seen some very talented future Grade One horses come out of this contest, the level has certainly been raised recently.

Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Betting Tips

This race is one of the final races to be finalised ahead of the festival, and as such, it is barely on the radar for most who look at antepost betting. Horses that will be some of the leading contenders for this race, may not have even ran yet in the UK or Ireland, and on top of that, we’ve horses that may run in the Triumph, depending on work and prep runs leading up to the festival.

With that in mind, we will bring you the thoughts of our tipsters when they have compiled their fancies, after final declarations have been made.

Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds (January Update)

The betting market for the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle is still in its infancy, and many of the runners towards the top of the market are horses that seem likely to go to the Triumph Hurdle, rather than coming to this contest.

With that in mind, we’ll let the dust settle a little more, and hope to see some of the names that have yet to run on these shores, before revisiting the market and working things out closer to the race itself.

What Happened in 2022?

In a thrilling finish up the hill, Brazil took first place in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, beating the gambled on favourite Gaelic Warrior, who was backed as though defeat was out of the question for the Willie Mullins team.

The prize did still go to Ireland though, Padraig Roche trained the winner, with Mark Walsh riding.
