Bournemouth v Tottenham Predictions
Bournemouth v Tottenham Match Preview
The difference between Bournemouth being secure within the Premier League’s midtable and not fighting a relegation battle is the Cherries’ ability to secure maximum points when it starts to matter, and this was precisely the case at Molineux last weekend.
Going into their trip to Wolves and a meeting with former boss Gary O’Neil, Bournemouth had lost both their last two league outings and had they gone on to lose a third, Andoni Iraola’s men would have started to look over their shoulders.
However, a 4-2 win in the West Midlands once again provides a necessary buffer for the Vitality Stadium outfit and in a game where Justin Kluivert scored not one, not even two but three penalties, their return to winning ways was largely settled from 12 yards.
In theory taking three points after three spot kicks sounds relatively easy but for the same player to take each of the efforts must have meant plenty of second-guessing for the son of former Dutch forward Patrick and each time Wolves keeper Jose Sa guessed the wrong way.
While there was plenty of second-guessing in terms of Tottenham’s starting eleven a day later and with ex-Cherry Dominic Solanke missing out on the visit of Fulham, Ange Postecoglou’s decision to rest Dejan Kulusevski looked even more of a head-scratcher.
Maybe the Australian underestimated the ability of the Cottagers, maybe the Australian overestimated the ability of his own players after that sensational 4-0 win at the Etihad the weekend before. Whatever the estimation, the outcome was just a share of the points.
Another failure to win two in a row and if you look at Spurs’ last eight Premier League matches, a win has been followed by defeat or a draw – more often than not, victory is followed by a blank the following week.
Four wins from eight, but three defeats and Sunday’s draw to go with it and just when Tottenham supporters allow themselves an element of optimism and buy into manager Postecoglou’s methods, does that optimism seem rather misplaced.
Misplaced to the point where the North London outfit started the midweek schedule sitting seventh but with the congestion around that area, there is every chance they will be a couple of rungs lower by the time they reach Bournemouth and that is why another league win is so important.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with Spurs being the league’s top scorers and Bournemouth’s attack and defence almost at parity with 20 scored and 19 conceded. I think this one has goals attached to it. Therefore, I am taking the away win and over 3.5 at odds of 15/4 with bet365.
In addition to this, I think over three could be rather conversative and considering this encounter has recorded five total goals on three of the last six meetings between the two, I am also going to predict a 3-2 away win at odds of 20/1 with William Hill.
