Entries For Cheltenham Gold Cup & Champion Chase Announced

With the Cheltenham Festival just around the corner, the excitement is rising with race entries being confirmed and bookmakers rolling out their latest Cheltenham offers to get punters ready for the big event.
A record-low tally of just five British horses has been entered for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, with the entries closing at noon on Tuesday.
Ireland continue to dominate the most prestigious race at the Cheltenham Festival, having claimed victory in the past six years and eight of the last nine, and the 19-strong field currently includes 13 Irish-trained contenders.
The reigning champion, Galopin Des Champs, leads the entries, aiming to secure his third consecutive Gold Cup triumph.
The Willie Mullins-trained superstar recovered from a modest seasonal debut to demolish rivals in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.
He's the 11/10 favourite with Coral to become the first horse since Best Mate (2002-2004) to win the Gold Cup three times.
Among his rivals are the King George VI Chase winner Banbridge, and Fact To File, who was successful in last year's Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, and who finished second to Galopin Des Champs in the Savills.
The five British-trained entries are all big prices, with the bookmakers - Grey Dawning is best priced at 25/1 after finishing second in the Betfair Chase but pulling up in the King George.
Other home hopes include L'Homme Presse at 33/1, Royale Pagaille at 50/1, The Real Whacker at 66/1, and Ahoy Senor at 66/1.
French-trained Il Est Francais, runner-up in the King George, also joins the lineup.
The total entries are down from last year's 20 and significantly lower than the 27 in 2023.
The Queen Mother Champion Chase has seen a significant boost in entries this year, with 26 horses put forward for the prestigious two-mile championship - an increase from 19 in 2024 and just 14 in 2023.
The list includes top market contenders Jonbon and Gaelic Warrior, who have impressed in recent performances.
Notably, dual-purpose stars Banbridge and Il Est Francais also entered for the Gold Cup, adding further intrigue to the competitive lineup.
And don't forget, William Hill are non NRNB on all Cheltenham Festival races - ideal for enjoying some ante-post action.
