Farmers Insurance 3-Ball Betting Tips

The thrills and spills of the PGA Tour will be turned up a notch this week for the Farmers Insurance Open.
For the third straight season, the tournament will commence on a Wednesday, wrapping up on Saturday.
Scottie Scheffler remains conspicuous by his continued absence, but the Farmers Insurance Open, played on two courses at Torrey Pines in San Diego (North and South Course) will provide a stern test for the field.
Well, the South Course is marginally easier in terms of score differentiation, but if the wind picks up, it can be a bit of a slog for the short and medium hitters.
Earlier this week, I offered insights into the golf betting tips outrights markets. This time, I’ve handpicked some 3-ball betting tips with the first round looming so let’s get stuck in, plus our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
Farmers Insurance 3-Ball Betting Tips - Round One
Ludvig Aberg to beat Keegan Bradley & Sahith Theegala
One of the must-watch groups, Ludvig Aberg will begin his Farmers Insurance Open campaign on the North Course alongside Keegan Bradley and Sahith Theegala.
The North Course, since its 2017 renewal, has been more benign in terms of scoring compared to the South Course. Indeed, last year, the stroke average for the North Course was 69.5, and it plays as a par 72.
Aberg, who kicked off this campaign with a T5 at The Sentry, was T9 on his Torrey Pines debut 12 months ago which augurs well.
Moreover, the Swede currently ranks 10th for SG: Total. He’s also eighth for Greens in Regulation (81.94%), so he could make some moves this week.
Theegala, meanwhile, went cold with the putter at The Sony Open, drifting out to T37, and the damage was done in the third round where he shot a 71.
Bradley has been on the right trajectory over the past few weeks, and the American can call on two top-15 finishes from his first two starts.
However, Aberg has always made an impression on me ever since he exploded onto the tour, and for the first of my 3-ball betting tips, I’m going with the Swede to land a decisive blow in Round 1.
Will Zalatoris to beat Justin Rose & Maverick McNealy
While he might not be among the favourites in the outrights, Will Zalatoris is ready to challenge for honours in T25.
The American, a former World No.7, seems to be approaching his best form once again after being plagued by back problems.
A T12 at La Quinta last weekend showed he’s moving in the right direction, and he was runner-up at the Farmers Insurance in 2022.
Whereas, Maverick McNealy went off the boil at The Sony Open. And Justin Rose is teeing it up for the first time on the PGA Tour this season, so we don’t have much to go by with him.
That said, Rose finished fourth and eighth in the two years before his 2019 victory at Torrey Pines, so this will be familiar territory for him.
Nevertheless, Zalatoris can be electric, and if he delivers with SG: Approach this week, a key metric, the American will leave Rose and McNealy in the shade in Round 1.
Jason Day to beat Max Homa & Hideki Matsuyama
Bound to be one of the featured groups, there is plenty of firepower on display here.
Hideki Matsuyama, a champion at the start of the year, has notched up two top-10s at the Farmers Insurance, and he should be counted on to make seamless progress.
Max Homa, meanwhile, missed five cuts before clinching the title in 2023, so he shouldn’t be underestimated.
But it’s Jason Day, who has leapt to my attention. The Australian, a two-time champion at this event, has come to form at just the right time.
A T3 in the desert last weekend, Day could be too hot to handle. Having backed him in the outrights to win, I’m not deviating from him with my 3-ball betting tips.
