Hero World Challenge 2-Ball Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions
This week's 2-ball betting tips come from the Hero World Challenge as the world's top 20 competes in the Bahamas.
Hosted by Tiger Woods, the Albany Resort, which was designed by Ernie Els, is famed for its small greens, and there is plenty of sand to negotiate.
That said, the fairways are very generous, and this course is likely to play into the hands of the game’s longest drivers.
Headlined by World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, the reigning champion will have a target on his back, but winning has come easily to him this term, clinching seven titles.
There is a sizable prize purse of around £5 million for this event, and while there is an element of fun about it, nobody will scoff at it.
But if like me, you want the lowdown on the groupings for Round 1, and who could prevail, then check out my 2-ball betting tips below, plus the top golf betting offers from the best golf betting sites.
2-Ball Betting Tips - Hero World Challenge
Hero World Challenge Preview
It will be an all-Korean affair when Sungjae Im goes up against Tom Kim, and it could make for fascinating viewing.
Im’s careful but precise takeback on his swing is something that has always caught my eye. While he hasn’t played on the PGA Tour since the ZOZO Championship at the end of October where he finished T13, his class is undoubted.
Kim, on the other hand, missed the cut on his last Tour outing at the Shriner’s Children Open, and he hasn’t made the weekend of events on five occasions this season.
More disconcertingly for Kim, across key performance metrics, such as SG: Total (64th), he’s lagging well behind the field, and it could be a tough week for him.
To open my 2-ball betting tips, I’m going with Im, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, to come up trumps.
Patrick Cantlay to beat Wyndham Clark
Reunited after the US’ successful Presidents Cup triumph over the International Team, Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark will duke it out on the PGA Tour once again.
In his previous appearance on the PGA Tour, Clark missed the cut at the Procore Championship, while Cantlay built up steam with three top-20 finishes on the bounce.
Cantlay is usually reliable with the putter, and ranks 38th this term for SG: Total, while Clark can bomb it down to the tee, and ranks eighth for driving distance.
This pairing has the potential to throw up a few birdies, but Cantlay’s tactical nous should get him over the line in this one.
Sahith Theegala to beat Scottie Scheffler
The all-conquering Scheffler was a force of nature on the PGA Tour this year. Let’s not forget he won Olympic gold in Paris, and his trophy cabinet continues to bulge.
At the Albany Resort, Scheffler has averaged just shy of 68 in his past 12 rounds, and he’s finished first, second, and second on his three previous visits.
Sometimes, it’s fair to say that Scheffler isn’t always the quickest starter. Theegala, who is strong off the tee, has had nine top-10 finishes this season, so he’s no pushover.
Although I have backed Scheffler to win this weekend, I don’t think he will be a wire-to-wire winner. To round things off, I’m going with Theegala to take the honours on Thursday.
