The PGA Tour will scurry off to Vallarta, Mexico for the Mexico Open this week.
It marks an important early staging post in the campaign as players will be earmarking a spot at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational next month through the Aon Swing 5.
Last week, Ludvig Aberg stepped into the winner’s circle at the Genesis Invitational, shrugging off the attentions of Maverick McNealy. The Swede was impressive on the home straight, notching up three birdies in a row on the back nine.
Following his exploits, Aberg has decided to put his feet up for this one, and he has shot up 21 places to top spot in the FedEx Cup rankings.
Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, sparkled last week, and he was three shots adrift of Aberg in T3.
The Mexico Open, meanwhile, is a very flat track, and the Greg Norman signature course has little rough to contend with.
Playing as a par-71, the 2024 stroke average was just a touch above 70.
