Mexico Open 3-Ball Betting Tips

The PGA Tour continues at its relentless pace this week with the Mexico Open.
There is plenty up for grabs as players will try and punch their ticket to the lucrative Arnold Palmer Invitational next month.
Apart from 500 FedEx Cup points in the offing, the winner is expected to collect a handsome cheque for £1 million.
Following his terrific display at the Genesis Invitational last week, Ludvig Aberg, along with a phalanx of the game’s other superstars, has decided to sit out this tournament.
Vidanta Vallarta, which is about half a mile from Mexico’s Pacific coast, was designed by Greg Norman, and it is a long track, so it is likely to favour the big hitters.
Earlier this week, I offered insights into the golf betting tips outrights markets.
This time, I’ve handpicked some 3-ball betting tips with the first round looming so let’s get stuck in, plus our best golf betting offers.
Mexico Open 3-Ball Betting Tips - Round One
We have had a look at the odds from our top online bookmakers to provide the best available on the market.
Michael Kim to beat Nicolai Hojgaard & Padraig Harrington
A blend of experience and youth underpins this group. Nicolai Hojgaard will be teeing up in just his second PGA Tour event of the season, and he was T36 at the Phoenix Open, so I haven’t got much to go by.
However, the Dane has also only participated in one event on the DP World Tour this term (Hero Dubai Desert Classic) where he was left trailing at the weekend.
It’s always great to see an old timer in Padraig Harrington take part this week, and he was T6 a fortnight ago in the Hassan II Golf Trophy.
Michael Kim, meanwhile, has had considerably more tournament time on the PGA Tour this season than his playing partners, and with more mileage on the clock, that should stand him in good stead.
Back-to-back top-15 finishes also support his case, and for the first of my 3-ball betting tips, I’m going for Kim to take the spoils.
Stephan Jaeger to beat Aaron Rai & Jake Knapp
It’s fair to assert Jake Knapp will have a target on his back as he goes into the event as the reigning champion.
Last year, Knapp shot a score of -19, and he performed well in Driving Distance (second) and Greens In Regulation (sixth).
The American is going into the tournament off the back of his best result this campaign (T17 at the Genesis Invitational), so that should give him confidence.
From a partisan point of view, it would be nice to see Aaron Rai deliver the goods, but his stats don’t make for impressive reading.
Stephan Jaeger, however, is usually a dark horse, and while he hasn’t been in contention in recent weeks, I haven’t forgotten his superb performance last year when he was T3 at the Mexico Open.
This could be a group that contains plenty of birdies, but I’m going for Jaeger to pip Rai and Knapp to the post.
Akshay Bhatia to beat Patrick Rodgers & Rasmus Hojgaard
The unpredictability of the PGA Tour is underlined by the fact each event has seen a different winner so far in 2025.
Patrick Rodgers was T6 at the Mexico Open, and bar two missed cuts this season, the American is trending in the right direction.
Rasmus Hojgaard, meanwhile, is searching for his best form, but I’m not convinced that he will rediscover it this week.
In stark contrast, Akshay Bhatia has been getting significant backing in the outright market, and the two-time PGA Tour winner was fourth at the Mexico Open on his previous visit in 2023.
He’s found his groove and he is striking the ball well, so he’s my pick in this 3-ball group.
