Everything you need to know about The Masters 2022 betting

All roads lead to The Masters

The PGA Tour is in full flow, and there are a whole host of exciting tournaments over the coming weeks on the Florida swing. However, thoughts will quickly turn towards The Masters, which is the first, and also probably the most iconic Major of the campaign.

So, let’s put you in the picture on everything you should know about this tournament, including odds, past champions, as well as supply a few handy tips of our own.

How to watch The Masters 2022

All four rounds will be shown exclusively on Sky Sports on their dedicated golf channel, while BBC will broadcast extended highlights each evening.

When is The Masters 2022?

The Masters takes place in April, and this year, it starts on April 4. Traditionally, there is a par-3 contest on Wednesday, although, in previous editions, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the first round gets underway on Thursday, some of the previous Masters champions, including Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will tee off at dawn to officially open the tournament.

Where is The Masters 2022 being staged?

The Masters is the only event that is played at the same venue each year. Once again, the Augusta National Golf Club will take centre stage, and it is a stunning course, which if you are watching on TV, you will be able to appreciate its beauty.

At Augusta, all the holes are named after trees, such as the 13th, which is The Azalea or the 16th known as the Redbud. There are some tricky pin positions scattered across the course, and there are some iconic holes too. The Amen Corner turn always provides plenty of drama, including the 12th hole, which is a par-3 playing 155 yards. More often than not, some players have found the wet, whereas it is usually better to play longer and safely navigate yourself to the back off the green.

Who has been invited to The Masters 2022?

Although the field won’t be officially confirmed until April, below are some of the players who will be competing at Augusta:

  • Abraham Ancer
  • Daniel Berger
  • Patrick Cantlay
  • Paul Casey
  • Cameron Champ
  • Bryson DeChambeau
  • Tommy Fleetwood
  • Brian Harman
  • Dustin Johnson
  • Brooks Koepka

Who is the defending champion?

Hideki Matsuyama is the reigning champion, and he became the first Asian recipient of the Green Jacket. As is customary, the defending champion hosts a special dinner for all the former champions, and he can choose what goes on the menu!

Anyway, here is a table of the list of the more recent champions:

2020Dustin JohnsonAmerican
2019Tiger WoodsAmerican
2018Patrick ReedAmerican

What can we expect from The Masters 2022?

The Masters is steeped in tradition, and there have been some many amazing performances over the years. While it will be interesting to see if Tiger Woods is fit enough to play, there will be some usual suspects lurking in the field that could slip into the Green Jacket, such as Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, and Dustin Johnson.

The pressure is usually on Rory McIlroy, who is trying to complete the Career Slam, and he is currently trading at a tempting looking price of 14/1 with Paddy Power. The Ulsterman has had a few near-misses down the years, and if he can put together four impeccable rounds, then he could well be a serious contender.

Perhaps the Masters will have a first-time Major winner this time around, and it could be one of the emerging stars that makes the breakthrough. Bet365 are offering an intriguing price of 20/1 on Viktor Hovland to take the Green Jacket, and he usually has ice running through his veins!
