The odds on Manchester City to win the Premier League for the fourth year on the spin have been slashed following their win over Luton Town on Saturday.
The Sky Blues completed a historic treble last season, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League and they are now 2/5 to win the league title once again this term.
Pep Guardiola speaks out on Premier League title race
Despite dominating the English game for many years now, Manchester City have spent little time at the top of the Premier League in 2023/24.
However, their 5-1 win over Luton, followed by Liverpool and Arsenal losing to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, means the Citizens are now two points clear at the summit.
Speaking after the Luton hammering, Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on the 2023/24 Premier League title race:
“The contenders we have with Arsenal and Liverpool, we cannot draw many games. That is why we are still there,” said Guardiola. “The only biggest difference between Arsenal, Liverpool against us is that they won a lot of points in stoppage-time. A lot. That helped them be in the position they are.
“Of course all three teams have had incredible seasons, all three. But they won a lot of points for the talent they have because of [late goals]. It happened for Liverpool many times in the last eight years and for Arsenal many times because of their talent.
“It is a credit to them, not the opposite. In those departments they are much better than us, but still we are there.”
But with only two points separating the top three teams, Man City cannot afford to drop any points in their final six games. Their next league outing comes vs Chelsea on April 20 and the Manchester outfit are 9/20 favourites to win that meeting.
