Denmark v France Match Preview & Betting Tips - Sunday 25th September

Can France stave off relegation fears?

France will be bidding to stay afloat in the top tier of the Nations League when they travel to visit Denmark on Sunday evening.

After a rather unforgettable campaign to date, France sprung into life in midweek as they eased to a 2-0 victory over Austria.

Olivier Giroud carved out a slice of history for himself as he brilliantly headed home an Antoine Griezmann delivery to become France’s oldest scorer at 35 years and 357 days, eclipsing the previous record set by Roger Marche in 1959.

However, the win over Austria was dampened by injuries to defender Jules Kounde and goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who are poised to join Karim Benzema, Hugo Lloris, and Paul Pogba on the sidelines.

Denmark, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat away to Croatia, and they are in a battle to secure an automatic berth for the Nations League finals next summer.

There’s plenty at stake and this match should make for absorbing viewing. We have scoured the markets and picked out a couple of tips for you to sink your teeth into ahead of the game.

France to exact revenge

Revenge is a dish best served cold as the old saying goes. After being on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline against the Danes back in June, Didier Deschamps’ troops will be eager to make amends.

Against Austria, Les Bleus dominated from the first whistle, and there was plenty to admire about that performance.

Giroud proved he can be more than just a third-choice striker for Deschamps, and he is just two shy of Thierry Henry’s record of 51 goals for his country.

And Kylian Mbappe was a menace once again as he took his effort with aplomb when firing home from 16 yards.

Although Denmark will take comfort from the fact that France’s defence has been porous, keeping only one clean sheet in five Nations League games, I think France will come out on top and preserve their Group A status.

I’m leaning towards a 2-1 win for France, and that Correct Score selection is available at 8/1 with William Hill.

Kylian Mbappe to produce two-goal salvo

Arguably one of the most lethal strikers in Europe, Mbappe has been in blistering form for club, and he is currently France’s top scorer in the Nations League, with two goals to his name.

Coming off the back of a defeat to Croatia, Denmark are likely to defend deep, and Mbappe could exploit any gaps when they open up.

Given the form he’s in, he could well have an enjoyable evening. And if you like a goalscorer special, then you can locate odds of 9/1 with Paddy Power for Mbappe to net twice.
