The Best Horse Racing Tips for Newmarket & York on Friday

ITV cameras will be at Newmarket at York on Friday afternoon and we will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for both cards, starting with the opening 6f sprint handicap on the Knavesmire.

At headquarters we will supply Horse Racing tips for two of the three Group races on the seven-race card, the 1m 4f Unibet Princess Royal Stakes at 2.25pm and at 3.35pm the 1m Unibet “Your On” Joel Stakes.

Our Tip for the 2.05pm at York:

Last Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup third Mr Wagyu has been a great servant for trainer John Quinn this season, winning on five occasions including Goodwood’s consolation Stewards’ Cup. Now running off a mark of 100 however, the Choisir gelding may just be in the grip of the handicapper.

On the other hand, the Mick Channon-trained Chairmanoftheboard has yet to get his head in front in 2021. The son of Slade Power finished fifth in last year’s Stewards’ Cup, beaten less than two lengths and off a mark some 6lb higher than will be the case on the Knavesmire.

The five-year-old’s last three efforts, in particular when not beaten far by Great Ambassador at Newmarket, puts David Egan’s mount in with a great chance of opening his account for the season.

Our Tip for the 2.25pm at Newmarket:

This Group 3 race for fillies and mares is probably more open than the betting would suggest. Market leader Albaflora will find this easier than when taking on the likes of Snowfall, Wonderful Tonight and Pyledriver this season. But the grey has recorded only two wins to date and is worth opposing at the prices.

Irish raider Forbearance and the William Haggas-trained Domino Darling are closely matched on York Galtres Stakes form, while the Godolphin filly Sayyida is respected in this grade. At a double-figure price however, the value may lie with Domino Darling’s stablemate Sea La Rosa.

The daughter of Sea The Stars is stepping out of handicap company for the first time but the mount of Cieren Fallon was an easy winner at Doncaster last time and looks capable of making her mark in Listed/Group company.

Our Tip for the 3.35pm at Newmarket:

This Group 2 contest looks to rest between the two Goldolphin runners, Qipco 2000 Guineas runner-up Master Of The Seas and Benbatl, winner of this race in 2019 as well as a close third 12 months ago.

The former has done nothing wrong in his six runs to date, including when finding only Poetic Flare a short head too good in the first classic of the season. That was the last time we saw the son of Dubawi on a racecourse however and it may be that the mount of William Buick will come on for this run, the colt’s first for almost five months.

Benbatl on the other hand, following an even longer lay off of 11 months since going down by a length to Kameko and Regal Reality in this race last year, lost out by only a head on his reappearance in Goodwood’s Celebration Mile last month, beaten a head by Lavender’s Blue despite not getting the best of starts.

With conditions looking to be perfect, Oisin Murphy’s mount is fancied to make a bold bid in an effort to win the race for a second time. Of the rest, the Charles Hills-trained Pogo can make the frame at a double-figure price.
