Alexander Isak joins exclusive Premier League club following Newcastle brace

Newcastle United travelled to West Ham on Sunday afternoon for a Premier League meeting, looking to build on their Champions League triumph over PSG in midweek.

The Magpies were held to a 2-2 draw by the Hammers, but they are now the second-top goalscorers in the Premier League this season with 20 in eight games.

Isak joins an exclusive club

Newcastle went 1-0 down after eight minutes vs West Ham thanks to a Tomas Soucek effort. However, Alexander Isak went on to net a five-minute brace in the second 45 to put the visitors in front.

Mohammed Kudus scored a late equaliser to rob Newcastle of the three points, but it was still a good day for Isak. The 24-year-old now has six goals in seven Premier League games in 2023/24.

And after finding the net vs David Moyes’ men, it has been revealed that Alexander Isak is the third Swedish player to score in three consecutive Premier League appearances, after Freddie Ljungberg (a run of 5 in April 2002) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2 runs in 2016/17).

With Newcastle fighting it out in four competitions this season, Isak maintaining his goalscoring form will be vital to the North East outfit’s success.
