Erik ten Hag refused to respond to a question about the possibility of Manchester United suffering their worst season in the Premier League era at his post-match press conference after drawing with Bournemouth on Saturday.
Man United finished 7th in 2013/14 under David Moyes and currently occupy that spot following the weekend’s results. However, the Red Devils are only behind 6th place via goal difference and can be backed at 5/4 to finish in the top-six this term.
Erik ten Hag storms out of press conference
Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with bottom-half Bournemouth has done Erik ten Hag no favours when it comes to fan backlash or keeping his job.
And the pressure is seemingly getting to the former Ajax boss, who stormed out of his pre-Cherries press conference on Saturday.
A finish below 7th would see Manchester United endure their worst campaign in the Premier League era and Ten Hag was questioned on the possibility.
He said: “I don’t take comment, take that question. That is not important for this moment,” before walking off abruptly.
With six games to go, Manchester United sit seven points above 11th-place Wolves. While it is unlikely the Red Devils will be caught by the Midlands outfit, clashes with Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton in their final six games means it is very possible United drop enough points to finish outside of the top half.
