Premier League sack race: Sheffield United & Bournemouth bosses see odds slashed as winless runs continue

With the October international break now upon us, it is a good time for clubs to assess their starts to the 2023/24 season and decide how to improve going forward.

This may be bad news for a few Premier League managers as the sack race heats up following gameweek 8 of the campaign.

One such manager is Erik ten Hag. Manchester United scraped a later win over Brentford on Saturday but the Red Devils are still 10th in the Premier League with four losses to their name already. Two defeats on the bounce in the Champions League also puts United’s spot in the knockout stages of the competition in doubt. Ten Hag is 5/1 with Betfair to be the next PL manager sacked.

Relegation duo in trouble

After being thumped 4-0 by Arsenal in gamweek 7, Bournemouth were looking to bounce back on Saturday vs fellow strugglers, Everton.

But when all was said and done, the Cherries suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sean Dyche’s men. This result leaves Bournemouth 19th in the Premier League and one of just two sides yet to win a game in 2023/24.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola can be backed at 13/2 with Betfair to be the next Premier League manager sacked.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United remain in serious trouble. The Blades excelled in the Championship last season and will have been hoping for a repeat of the 2019/20 campaign when they finished 9th after securing promotion to the top flight.

However, the Yorkshire outfit fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Fulham over the weekend. This result means Sheffield United sit 20th in the table heading into the break with just one point and the most goals conceded in the division (22).

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom is the heavy favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked with odds of 8/15 at Betfair.
