PSG Join Man Utd and Barcelona In Pursuit Of Spurs Star

French giants PSG are reportedly set to enter the race for one of Tottenham’s most important stars this coming summer.

Both Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United and Spanish powerhouse Barcelona are already in pursuit of Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, but the Parisians have now outlined him as a target too.

The Belgium international has shot to prominence in the Premier League under the guidance of Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino, becoming one of the most prominent centre backs in England’s top-flight.

Mourinho has been keen on acquiring the Belgian for some time, in a bid to bolster his seemingly unstable rearguard, but offers from Barca or PSG may prove too tempting to turn down.

Alderweireld is currently into his third season with his present employers, but has become a key target of those three big clubs this coming summer.

The 29-year-old will likely be heading to Russia to help his nation in the World Cup, after previously starring at both the 2014 tournament in Brazil and Euro 2016 on French soil.

Another strong international campaign on Russian territory will only advance his reputation and further increase his already substantial price-tag at Spurs.

He has not featured as much as he’d like this campaign due to injury setbacks and is out of contract in the summer of 2019, though Spurs have the option to extend that deal by another year.

In doing so, though, the capital club would activate a £25 million release clause in their defender’s contract, a fee which the clubs involved in this three-way transfer tussle would be more than happy to pay for his signature.
