Roberto De Zerbi hands Jurgen Klopp unwanted record after Brighton vs Liverpool

Brighton welcomed Liverpool to the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a Premier League clash.

The Seagulls went 1-0 up after 20 minutes before Mohamed Salah scored a brace at the end of the first 45. Lewis Dunk then snatched a later equaliser with 12 minutes to play.

The result leaves Brighton 6th in the table heading into the break, just one point off 4th and two points off Manchester City. Back Brighton to finish in the top-four at 7/2 with bet365.

De Zerbi bests Klopp

After securing a draw vs Liverpool on Sunday, Roberto De Zerbi has become the first Premier League manager Jurgen Klopp has faced four or more times across all competitions and failed to beat (D2, L2).

Despite his struggles vs the Brighton boss, Jurgen Klopp spoke of his respect for De Zerbi post-match when discussing the Italian’s frustration on the touchline during the clash:

“I could not respect more what he is doing,” Klopp said. “I’m a real supporter of it, I’m a football lover and if someone comes in with the impact he has on football, that shouldn’t be underestimated.

“In the moment when he got outraged, I used my age and tried to calm him down. I had no clue what they (De Zerbi and the fourth official) were talking about, I just saw them. If I am in a moment like this, there’s a moment of no going back that appears and I think he was close to that. I tried to calm him down.

“I’m not sure if he needed it or not. He told me something about a penalty but I had no clue what he was talking about. I think he wanted a penalty.”
