Which January Signings Can Get Spurs Over The Line?

You get the feeling the feeling Tottenham are building further and further towards that first Premier League title. After narrowly missing out the last two years, they’ve proven their worth against the likes of Real Madrid this year and cruises into the second phase of the Champions League.

There is still plenty of ground to catch up on Manchester City who have not only flexed their financial muscles by bringing in Pep Guardiola, but also a plethora of superstars.

Tottenham currently have odds to win the Premier League of 14/1, the third favourite, but United are catchable and City are only eight points clear.

Spurs will have to act in January though if their going to compete to the latter stages of all competitions.

There are plenty of rumours around. Here are the players that could be making their move to Wembley over the winter…

Tolgay Arslan

According to reports, Spurs are ready to make a £7million bid for Besiktas star Tolgay Arslan.

The midfielder has been in fine form for the Turkish side and would prove a great addition to the squad as the club aim to make their way through the Champions League.

Pochettino will be chasing silverware this season and adding depth to his squad will be key.

It’s thought Besiktas May be waiting for £10million, so we’ll see how this one plays out.

Luke Shaw

Life at Manchester United hasn’t been great for Luke Shaw so he’d no doubt be delighted to team back up with his old boss.

With Danny Rose expected to leave for the Red Devils, we could see the deal bring Shaw the other way.

Spurs are light in the position with only Ben Davies providing cover for the Englishman. Davies has proved his worth however and would slot into first choice should Rose leave, with Shaw fighting for his place.

Mikel Oyarzabal

Despite having one of the best striker’s on the planet in Harry Kane, Spurs could improve their front line.

Adding another striker to the ranks would certainly boost their Champions League odds of 14/1, and Pochettino has his eye on Mikel Oyarzabal being the man to do it.

The Real Sociedad star has netted seven times in 11 games so far this season and at just 20 years of age is a great prospect for the future.

The Spanish outfit are unlikely to want to sell, especially in January, so it’ll take an over the odds bid to secure his services. But it’d be a great addition if they could get him to sign on the dotted line.
