Why Marcus Rashford joined up with England squad late

Marcus Rashford has linked up with England after being called up by manager Gareth Southgate. However, the Manchester United forward was late to do so.

The reason for this is Gareth Southgate allowed the United striker time to deal with ‘personal matters’, while Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips was granted the same allowance.

Marcus Rashford has won 57 caps for England and has scored 17 goals. His latest effort came in the October break in a 3-1 win over Italy, which helped England secure their spot in Germany next year.

Rashford is expected to be involved in some capacity vs Malta and can be backed at 8/15 with Betfair to score anytime on Friday.
