We’re picking a 3/1 shot in the Saturday night fight between Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius.

It’s Anthony Joshua fight week again, but this one has more twists than usual.

His opponent, Robert Helenius, was only announced on Tuesday morning, crowbarred in to save the card following Dillian Whyte’s failed drugs test.

Anthony Joshua v Robert Helenius Betting Tips

The “Nordic Nightmare” is no stranger to the Briton. He has sparred with AJ in the past, and having already agreed terms from when he was on the shortlist for this original fight date, this was an easy last-minute replacement to get over the line for Matchroom Boxing.

Joshua is looking to gain some momentum ahead of a possible Saudi fight against Deontay Wilder later this year.

The 33-year-old is 25-3 (22KO) and arguably heading towards the final throw of this dice in his heavyweight career.

Last-minute danger

Joshua will of course be wary of a new opponent just five days out from a main event.

He’s been training for 12 weeks to fight Dillian Whyte, and will now have to adapt to the taller Helenius standing at 6ft 7 inches.

But Joshua tends to prefer fighting taller men; the biggest trouble he has faced as a professional has come against the smaller Oleksandr Usyk, Andy Ruiz Jr. and in pockets against Alexander Povetkin.

But the bookies still see Joshua getting this one done inside the distance at 1/4 with bet365.

A puncher’s chance

If you fancy another Andy Ruiz Jr-esque last-minute change shocker, then 9/1 is your price for an outright Robert Helenius win with bet365.

He’s bashed the bookies in previous underdog wins, most notably in back-to-back wins over Adam Kownacki in 2020-21, and arrives in London with a nothing to lose attitude.

He’s also in top shape having only fought a week ago in what looked like a Finnish castle, beating Mika Mielonen in a third-round TKO stoppage.

A knockout win for the “Nordic Nightmare” stretches the odds out to 12/1 with bet365.

A point to prove?

Joshua is looking down the barrel of the gun of his career and needs a good run of wins if he is to challenge again for world honours.

It starts on Saturday and AJ will be looking to put on a show inside London’s O2 Arena.

Joshua is unbeaten in this arena and will be confident of sweeping Helenius aside in style.

TIP: Anthony Joshua to beat Robert Helenius in Rounds 1-3 at 3/1 with bet365
