We’re into its second half now, with either six or seven games remaining.
There are eight fixtures tomorrow night across the two groups, with another inked in for Saturday.
T20 Blast Betting Tips
There’s no doubt the pick of the fixtures is Somerset v Surrey at a sold out Taunton, the top two teams in the South Group.
Somerset are two points clear having won seven of eight games, including all four of the ones they’ve played at home.
This really is a ‘something’s got to give’ clash because Surrey have won five of six games played away from home as well.
But I’m going to go for Somerset on this occasion at 13/10 with betfair. This one could go either way, and I certainly wasn’t expecting such an obvious favouritism either way.
I’m also going to go with Middlesex at 6/4 with BetVictor to beat Kent at Lord’s and claim their first of the campaign at the ninth attempt having lost their first eight. Am I mad? That’s probably a discussion for a different time.
But that run won’t continue. They will win one sooner rather than later, and this strikes me as the perfect opportunity.
Kent, who have only won two of seven games, head into this one on the back of failing to defend a 501 target to beat Surrey at home in the Championship. You do wonder how much that will have taken out of them.
Roses double looks good
Yorkshire are on a roll in the Blast. They’ve won their last five games and host a Leicestershire side who sit bottom of the table.
Lancashire are, for me, too good not to qualify for the quarter-finals, and I expect them to put a mixed start behind them and have a good back end to the competition. That will start against Northamptonshire away.
A Yorkshire and Lancashire win double is 1.22/1 with vbet.
If you want to be a bit more adventurous and take the Somerset and Middlesex win double, that’s on offer at a best price of 4.25/1 with Ladbrokes.
It’s a Will Jack-er cracker
In that Somerset v Surrey game, it surprises me that Surrey’s England all-rounder Will Jacks is 9/1 with bet365 to be their top wicket-taker in the match.
Here is a batting off-spinner who has taken 10 wickets so far in this season’s Blast, the second best haul in Surrey’s squad behind Sunil Narine with 14.
He was spoken about as a potential replacement for Jack Leach in England’s Test team before they went for Moeen Ali.
Bet365 have him as the second least likely Surrey bowler to be their top wicket-taker at Taunton, with only Cameron Steel priced higher at 16s.
I just don’t think that’s right, and I would be taking a small stakes approach with Jacks.
