Once again, the onus will be on the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to knock Bayern Munich off their perch. Bayern have become the indomitable force of German football and they have been the benchmark.
Last season, Julian Nageslmann’s charges romped to their 10th straight league title, and while they bid farewell to Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mane will be hoping to fill the void left behind by the Polish international.
On Friday evening, Bayern travel to face Frankfurt in their opening Bundesliga game, and Frankfurt proved to be stiff opposition last term.
But will Bayern fluff their lines or will they brush aside Frankfurt? We have scoured the markets and selected a few tips for you to sink your teeth into.
Bayern Munich to make no mistake
Under Nagelsmann, Bayern have been breathtakingly brilliant and they have been a frightening prospect for many teams to deal with. They can break with such ferocity, and while they may throw up chances, they have been a near unstoppable force.
Frankfurt for many, may seem like a walkover, and they will be hoping to improve on last season’s showing as they toiled before finishing 11th.
However, one of Frankfurt’s highlights was their stunning 2-1 victory over Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Bayern were able to exact revenge with a 1-0 win in the corresponding fixture at the Deutsche Bank Park, and it would be a surprise if they slipped up.
If you are swayed by the Correct Score section, then you can get a price of 8/1 with Paddy Power for Bayern to prevail 2-0 which is worth backing.
Sadio Mane to have his say
He may only be a few weeks into a thrilling new chapter of his career, but Mane has already made an impact. In the traditional curtain raiser last weekend – the German Super Cup – Mane was a handful against Leipzig as his side ran out 5-3 winners in a pulsating clash.
Mane netted with his first attempt on goal, and he had a further two strikes ruled out for offside. He is bound to get some fantastic service, especially from the likes of Thomas Muller, who is widely proclaimed the ‘Assist king’.
With two goals in his first two outings for Bayern, Mane will be looking to maintain his rich vein of form. He will no doubt have his say at some point against Frankfurt and he could well open his Bundesliga account. William Hill is dishing up a tasty price for Mane to score the first AND last goal of the game which is available at 12/1 if that appeals.
Bayern to produce late flurry
In their last meeting, Bayern huffed and puffed before they eventually broke the deadlock thanks to a late strike from Leroy Sane.
Nagelsmann’s men will have to display some patience as Frankfurt will look to create a wall to stifle the visitors, and break when the opportunity presents itself.
Bayern will of course be probing, but this could well be the type of game where it may take a while for them to make the breakthrough. The flash markets always offer some value, and William Hill is advertising a price of 8/1 for Bayern to get their first goal of the game in the period covering the 61st to 75th minute which is quite intriguing.
