The odds on Chelsea to finish in the Premier League top six this season have shortened in the wake of their meeting with Everton on Monday evening.
The Blues headed into the game as favourites but few expected such a dominant showing from Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who came away with a 6-0 win when all was said and done. Following the result, Chelsea’s odds to finish in the top six have shortened to 4/1.
Mauricio Pochettino on Chelsea securing European finish
Monday’s result moved Chelsea up to 9th in the Premier League table, which is not a European qualification place.
However, the London outfit have at least one game in hand on the four sides above them and if they win that tie, they could move as high as 6th in the table.
Speaking post-Everton, Mauricio Pochettino was quizzed on Chelsea securing some form of European football this term and said:
“The most important thing now is to build a team which is consistent and to win games,” he said. “We need to be solid in the performance because we have dropped too many points.
“We were not consistent enough. We need to learn and learn quick.”
Chelsea’s next Premier League outing and latest chance to climb into the top six takes place on April 23 vs Arsenal, with the Blues currently 11/2 to pick up three points.
