RCB vs Gujarat Titans Tips and Predictions
While RCB have won two on the spin, Gujarat Titans have lost their last two, including against this opponent last time out on Sunday.
We’re in the unusual position here of the reverse fixture happening immediately. On Sunday, RCB chased 201 to win by nine wickets in Ahmedabad.
It doesn’t surprise me that Bangalore are odds on favourites to win this match given their recent form and the fact that they do have some incredible batting talent at their disposal.
But I’m not so sure I’d be keen to take a price of 5/6 on a team who has struggled so badly with the ball. Not one of their bowlers has reached double figures wickets wise yet.
With that in mind, I’m more than happy to side with a Gujarat team who need a win to put them back into top-four contention. They are 6/5 with Ladbrokes to win.
At time of writing, the Titans are two points away from a place in the top four with four games remaining. They probably need to win three to qualify.
You know the drill, get on Gill
I’m a stubborn so and so when it comes to matches involving Shubman Gill. Rarely does a fixture go by when I don’t suggest some kind of success for the Indian opener.
And after a poor run of form - no fifty in four innings - now is the time to stand up for his team.
I’m going to take the 7/5 on offer with betway for Gill and in-form team-mate Sai Sudharsan to score 25 plus runs apiece. Number three Sudharsan is the Titans’ top-scorer with 418 runs from 10 matches to Gill’s 320.
The same bet with a Gujarat win involved - so a third-fold combination, including 25 runs apiece for Gill and Sudharsan - is available with betway at 12/5.
Cracker Jacks
England’s Will Jacks could be a real weapon in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, as he has shown in his first taste of the IPL with RCB.
He has hit scores of 55 and 100 not out - the latter off 41 balls - in his last three innings and has hit 15 sixes in five matches so far from number three.
Jacks is a price boosted 9/4 with Ladbrokes to hit three sixes in this match, and I would be absolutely taking that on.
The Surrey man is also a great price to be Bangalore’s top batter in the match, at 4/1 with PaddyPower. Again, that’s definitely worth siding with.
I also think it’s worth having a crack at a century to be scored in the match. I expect this to be a high-scoring affair, so a 5/1 - with Paddy Power once more - looks pretty decent value.
There has been 11 scored so far in the tournament. Bangalore have hit two, but Gujarat are yet to get off the mark. Now would be a good time to start, wouldn’t it!
