Cheltenham Video - Topsy Turvy Ryanair Chase Market Ripe for an Upset

Ryanair Chase (2.30pm, Thursday)

It’s fair to say that the panel on the Cheltenham Preview Night are not convinced about too many in the field for the Ryanair Chase.

Ed Quigley called this, “one of the most bizarre ante-post Grade 1s we have for some time,” while Peter Scudamore suggested that initial concerns about the introduction of the Ryanair diluting the championship races at Cheltenham are evidenced by this year’s field.

Melissa Jones made the case for the bookies’ favourite, Allaho, pointing out that he, “battled very on very well to see off a talented mare in Elimay last time.”

Ed agreed that Allaho is the right favourite but pointed out that the recent form of those in behind him in the betting is a long way from what you would want for a Grade 1 at the Cheltenham Festival.

Ed’s suggestion was to support horses with stronger recent form including Fakir D’oudairies and Mister Fisher, both of whom are available at a tempting 8/1 with bet365*.
