Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle (3.05pm, Thursday)
The news that Thyme Hill will miss the Stayers’ Hurdle after suffering a muscle issue means we won’t see the final leg of the trilogy between Philip Hobbs’ horse and Paisley Park (15/8 with bet365*).
Even before that news had broken, Peter Scudamore told the Freebets.com Cheltenham Preview event that Paisley Park is the horse he would want to ride in the race even if it would be tough work given the way he tends to hit a flat spot.
Scu is most impressed by the way that Paisley Park seems to keep staying on strongly after the final flight at Cheltenham and thinks that could make the difference on Thursday.
Elsewhere in the race Ed Quigley makes a case for Reserve Tank running a big race at an even bigger price (50/1 with Paddy Power*) while Melissa Jones suggests that the Cheltenham Festival form of Sire Du Berlais (9/2 with Betfair*) and the time of his handicap win last year makes him the stand out value in the race.
