England kick off their Six Nations campaign in Rome as they face Italy, with Steve Borthwick’s side aiming to get off to a quick start in this year’s tournament.

- Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Twelve months on from being named England coach, Steve Borthwick knows that big things are expected in this year’s Six Nations, and his side gets their tournament underway on Saturday with a visit to Italy.
England have won their last ten meetings with the Azurri and arrive in Rome having reached the semi-final stages of the Rugby World Cup.
Italy continue to improve slowly, but the 2023 Six Nations still saw them lose all five of their outings as they picked up the wooden spoon once again.
New coach Gonzalo Quesada will be looking for a big performance from his side in Rome but they could yet again come up short against a strong-looking England side.

Italy vs England Betting Tips
We’re taking a stab at two try-scoring bets in Rome on Saturday.
Jamie George to score a try
Jamie George is the England captain for the 2024 Six Nations, and you can be sure he’ll be aiming to lead from the front in Rome.
He’s scored 13 tries for his country, an excellent return for a hooker, and he’s an attacking threat in the loose or from the back of a maul.
At 8/5, he looks a tad overpriced to grab a try at some point in the Stadio Olimpico as he looks to start his reign as captain with a victory.
Immanuel Feyi-Waboso to score the last try
Having chosen to represent England rather than his homeland of Wales, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will be looking to make a big impact off the bench in Rome.
The Exeter winger has been in impressive form for his club, scoring five tries in the league this season, including a spectacular acrobatic finish against Northampton a month ago.
Steve Borthwick is likely to unleash Feyi-Waboso in the second half, and he’ll fancy his chances of nabbing a try against a potentially tiring Italian defence - he looks a bit of value to grab the last try in the Stadio Olimpico.
Team Lineups
Italy
New Italy head coach Gonzalo Quesada has gone with an experienced line-up for their clash with England, with only one member of the starting XV having fewer than ten caps, while nine of the starting side have over 30 appearances. The Garbisi brothers are the half-back partnership - Alessandro at nine and Paolo at 10.

England
With Marcus Smith out injured, the experienced George Ford will start at 10 for England in Rome, and coach Steve Borthwick has also handed debuts to Fraser Dingwall and Ethan Roots. Dingwall will feature at inside centre alongside the returning Henry Slade, and Roots will start at blindside flanker.
