A Friday Feast
If you prefer your wagers to be based on goals rather than outcomes, then we have four of our very best bets to keep you entertained.
Coming From Nowhere
The first of our four clashes takes us to the Scottish Championship as Arbroath play host to Ayr and with Dick Campbell’s men pulling off a shock win over leaders Queen’s Park in their last outing, they now welcome another promotion hopeful.
One that comes in the shape of Ayr and with Lee Bullen’s side finding themselves just five points off the top in third, they will hope to earn maximum points this coming Friday. However, it is just goals or perhaps the lack thereof that we are interested in.
Because there have been two or less in total in each of the hosts’ last five league outings and with Arbroath averaging less than a goal a game this season, my first tip is to back under 2.5 at Gayfield Park. The odds of such an outcome are currently 3/4.
Drinking The Claret
Next up we go to Turf Moor as Championship league leaders Burnley play host to Sunderland and as Vincent Kompany’s men continue to match towards a return to the Premier League, the same cannot be said for their upcoming opponents.
Because Sunderland start this latest round of championship fixtures lying 11th in the table and in fairness to Tony Mowbray and his players this is a fixture that they can do without. They have only won one of their last six league encounters and the play-offs are looking further in the distance.
Burnley have not conceded more than one goal for 17 consecutive league games and Sunderland have not scored more than one goal for seven consecutive league games. However, I think the Clarets may turn the screw on Friday and this is why I am backing over 2.5 at odds of 4/5.
North West Derby
Now we are off to Edgeley Park as Stockport prepare to play host to Salford and not only is this a game that offers an element of local derby but there will also be ramifications in terms of play-off entry at the end of the season.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last five and start this weekend’s League Two schedule lying fifth in the table. The visitors have lost one of their last six outings and are currently just a position behind Friday’s hosts.
There may have been two or less goals in each of Stockport’s last six matches but both they and Salford will look to place a marker on the other and with this in mind, I am backing over 2.5 goals at odds of 23/20
League Two Woes
While my final pick pivots me to Prenton Park. Tranmere play host to Harrogate, and they do so without a permanent manager in the technical area. Micky Mellon was squashed a week or so ago and Rovers had to make do with a 1-1 draw at Colchester on Saturday.
The hosts have the luxury of a midtable finish, the visitors are not safe from relegation just yet. Although in fairness to Simon Weaver’s men, they have won two of their last three outings and are now six points clear of the drop.
When looking at Tranmere’s last 10 league outings, they have not managed to score twice or more in a game. That arguably did for Mellon in terms of his employment status, but this will surely help my fourth tip of under 2.5 goals at odds of 4/6.
While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 10.28/1 in return.
