The wait is finally over! The Euro 2020 opener is firmly on the horizon as Turkey host Italy…in Rome.

We’ve got an intriguing game on our hands to kick things off, with both sides arriving at the tournament without a great deal of expectation on their respective shoulders.

The Azzurri are traditionally slow starters at major tournaments, but we reckon their robust defence will stand them in good stead for this potentially tricky Turkish test.

Today’s Bet Builder comes in at just over 4/1 with Paddy Power:

  • Both Teams to Score: No
  • Italy to be Leading at Half-time
  • Ciro Immobile to Score Anytime
  • Italy to Win

Turkey vs Italy Bet Builder Betting Tip:

Both Teams to Score: No

It’s a football writing staple to suggest the Italians come into a tournament with a watertight defence and it’s the same again here.

Roberto Mancini’s side have conceded just once in their last 12 games, a run stretching back to September last year.

Italy to be Leading at Half-time

Yes, Italy tend to be slow out the starting blocks, but they’ve been flying out the traps in recent months.

The “away” side here have been leading at the break in seven of their last eight games.

Ciro Immobile to Score Anytime

The Lazio striker is a shoe in to be leading the line in Rome on Friday night and he comes into the tournament on the back of a real purple patch as far as goals are concerned.

The 31-year-old has 64 of them over the last two seasons for his club, and with Turkey having something of a wobbly defence, we’re expecting plenty of chances to fall Ciro’s way.

Italy to Win

With the added incentive of playing on home soil for this one, it’s extremely difficult to see past a win for the favourites.

They’ve also not lost a competitive home game for nearly five years, while Turkey aren’t the most convincing on the road, with just one win in five on their travels.
